On behalf of the students, parents, faculty, and Board of Trustees of Esperanza Academy, I would like to thank the Great Women to Know for hosting the third annual Shadow Day on Monday, February 1st. It is wonderful for our girls to have a group of role models such as yourselves and even more amazing that you are willing to share your precious time and open your workplaces to them. Thanks to your instruction, they are now inspired to become acupuncturists, neuropsychologists, veterinarians, realtors, attorneys, and, in general, successful professional women.
Shadow Day is a much anticipated event at Esperanza Academy because the girls are eager for a glimpse at what their future may bring. The fifth and sixth graders have spent much time discussing the presentations they attended. Fourteen fifth graders and 20 sixth graders attended informative presentations led by 11 Great Women to Know. As a result of these sessions, many of the girls want to join the medical field to help babies or elderly people. Some were delighted with the possibility of being their own boss. Mostly, though, they were excited to own a dream home!
A day spent talking about careers and watching women at work is invaluable to our girls. They have high hopes for their futures; now they have a renewed understanding that what they are doing here at Esperanza will take them where they want to go.
As always, thank you for your continued support.
