Snap Out of it!
Release Date:
October 7, 2010 "Snap out of it!"
Do you wish you had a completely candid, professional opinion of your landscaping? Chris Gray is your go-to women! On September 21, at the Stevens Estate at Osgood Hill in North Andover, on a perfect evening of warm sunshine, we all learned about the importance of bringing color, texture, and scale to our humdrum gardens. Chris doesn't mince words. Tips on how to spruce up our curb appeal followed as we learned how to brighten our gardens, carefully select shrubs that flower longer and create interesting window boxes and planters that last well into the winter months. She made it look easy.
(You'll have a second opportunity to see Chris's magnificent transformations at Susan Casey's home on October 27 when we convene for our Fall Harvest Dinner.)
The evening began with refreshments on the terrace and a short presentation by Laura Gifford, Director of the Stevens Estate, who narrated the history of the house and highlighted its amazing architectural features. The beautiful oak and mahogany paneling, leaded stained glass windows and imported marble fireplaces are a testament to the grandeur and significance of one the few remaining grand estates of the Victorian era-and the ONLY one in North Andover!
We ended the evening with dinner in the parlor and an update from Susan Wilson on the exciting upcoming GWTK events planned for our 4th year. We were thrilled to have Rosalyn Wood, Esperanza Board Chair, in attendance. Rosalyn was very grateful for all that Great Women To Know does for the school. We hope to see Rosalyn at future Great Women To Know events!!
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Lisa Simmons who planned and executed this wonderful and memorable evening, as well as to Chris Gray, for helping us "snap out of it" !
