Great Women Mondays Get Underway at Esperanza

Great Women to Know has introduced a series of exploratory learning sessions at Esperanza Academy, to take place on Mondays from 4-5 PM throughout the school year. Combining academic content with real world topics and hands-on activities, the goal of the exploratory learning sessions is to teach in an engaging way. More than a dozen Great Women volunteers have already signed up to host sessions on topics ranging from career exploration to nutritional awareness to financial fitness. The sessions provide students the opportunity to explore new subjects and perspectives in a relaxed atmosphere that invites interaction and builds self-esteem. Each session developed by Great Women to Know will be complemented with classroom instruction by Esperanza teaching fellow Rhianna Cohen. The sessions, which can accommodate up to 10 students each, will be for 7th graders in the first trimester, 5th graders the second trimester, and 7th graders again in the final trimester.
